A Day for Creativity and Collaboration
Innovation Day has become a flagship event for many Creditsafers, and every year, more and more people take part and design awesome solutions for colleagues and customers.
This year was no exception to this trend! In total, there were 32 teams and over 290 Creditsafers that took part across Dublin, Cardiff, and Hyderabad.
The solutions were wide-ranging and numerous: some focused on automating tasks and decisions, others on enriching our data, and others were centered around customer experiences. The event finished with high-quality pitch videos showcasing the value along with some good laughs.
Teams had to produce a final demo video with a maximum duration of 3 minutes. The presentations candidly walked through how the solution worked and the pains they answered, with some featuring production value and VFX that would put Michael Bay to shame!
A Glimpse Into Innovation Day
The day began with breakfast and the collection of remaining custom-branded Hackathon tees.
Equipped with coffee, croissants, and inspiration, the teams walked and wirelessed into the Bob Bank room for the introductory presentation from Navdeep Sharma, the founder and organiser of the Hackathon.
After the talk, the teams set about building an innovative solution and video presentation against the collapsing horizon of a strict deadline 8 AM the next day!
You could feel the energy of the day buzzing across the offices; the fun, camaraderie, excitement, and pressure all coming together to form an inspiring, fun, and exhilarating experience.
We witnessed laughs, intense coding, high-fives, markers and whiteboards, the take-up of generous doses of Domino’s pizza, and much more.
Towards the end of the day, teams gradually called it a day (at least for now!), with some sticking around to celebrate with a couple of drinks and some food, others heading home to polish their hard work and Demo.
The Presentation Day 🎉
With presentations submitted by 8am and code-reviews already taking place for the solutions, all of the global teams sat down and enjoyed each others presentations. A mind-blowing array of innovative ideas were presented, a huge well done to all!
After the video presentations, each team’s submissions were meticulously reviewed by the judges, leading to the announcement of this year’s winners! With this year’s deliberation being the closest it has ever been according to Navdeep, it was a tough call.
Reflecting on the experience, our CIO, Brian McGeough said:
“Just about every one of these ideas I anticipate we’re going to implement at some stage…We set some objectives for ourselves earlier in the year and you all responded quickly to it…It’s so evident from today that every team is taking the tools that are available to it and within one day, turning out code and implementing solutions and really innovative ideas. It’s just phenomenal…We’ve hit an all time high in all-aspects this year. Well done everybody.”

“I think it’s a great way to bond with colleagues and work on something different from your BAU. I look forward to it each year and think does a great job at resetting the team. This year refreshments and team spirit seemed particularly good!”
