Senior Technical Project Manager (Infrastructure)
Reporting to the Group IT & Security Operations Director, the Senior Technical Project Manager will assist the Infrastructure and Service Management teams in the delivery of infrastructure strategy and to support the IT Operations team in the delivery of Infrastructure modernisation programmes.
The Group IT & Security teams are responsible for the complete lifecycle of all on premise & cloud based infrastructure and end user services. You will have a proven technical background across corporate networks, Windows server estates and extensive experience of modern Cloud, Colocation and in-house infrastructure services.
You will be working in a mixed fast-paced Agile and Waterfall project managed environment. The role will require the ability to focus and refocus effort based on the business and operational needs, managing several projects at any one time.
The responsibilities detailed are not exhaustive and the Senior Technical Project Manager may be requested to perform additional duties / take on additional responsibilities deemed as reasonable by their direct line manager
5+ years commercial experience of managing complex infrastructure and Service Delivery projects within a transformational change programme including project scoping, planning, execution, progress reporting, issue, risk, dependency and change management, deployment planning / execution.
Experience of delivering global infrastructure and desktop services projects.
Hands-on experience of business and system analysis, requirements gathering and functional specification and the ability to review / quality assure outputs generated from these activities.
The ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and to build a strong rapport with the programme team, members of the IT department, third-party suppliers and the wider business community.
The ability to share best practices and to introduce innovative ways of working where appropriate.
The ability to demonstrate strategic leadership, but also to recognise the need for tactical solutions where appropriate.
Technical knowledge and experience of projects implementing:
o Full suite Office 365
o Teams deployment/integration
o Dynamics 365 integration
o AWS and AZURE public cloud platforms.
Delivering Digital Transformation project with experience of managing both the technical and business change elements.
The essential skills/attributes:
Good organisational skills.
Experience of working on medium to large scale IT Infrastructure projects.
Ability to communicate to project stakeholders and senior management ensuring “no surprises” running and delivery of all projects.
Ability to identify and manage interdependencies across a portfolio of projects involving
both technology and business projects.
Ability to build a strong rapport with members of the IT Team and the wider business.
Technical aptitude and an ability to provide a communication “bridge” between the
business and technologists.
Proven and quantifiable ability to drive projects to completion on time and budget.
Qualifications & specialist training:
Recognised Project Management Practitioner certification such as PRINCE2 or APM.
